This coming fall, I am hosting a foreign exchange student from Germany. A German exchange student from this year has left me with a German Bible for my new student and I wanted to highlight some verses in it for her. If you know of any encouraging verses that would be great! Thanks!
The parable of the Good Samaritan is encouraging, showing that true Christians should be impartial. It’s found at Luke 10:29-37.
Here is another selection:
Colossians 3:10,11 "and clothe yourselves with the new [personality], which through accurate knowledge is being made new according to the image of the One who created it, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, foreigner, Scyth′i‧an, slave, freeman, but Christ is all things and in all."
Just randomly pick and choose, it seems to be what most christians do to support their argument anyway.
I hear most of the Psalms are pretty good.

2Cor 5:20
"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God"

Whoa! Jessica! Hold it right there.!
Unless this exchange visit is through a church group of some sort, KEEP RELIGION RIGHT OUT OF IT. You are likely to cause deep offense and poison the air for the entire time you have your visitor. We in Europe are not as religiously indoctrinated as you in America, and on the whole do not appreciate anyone force-feeding us stuff out of the bible.
In my youth I went on five exchange visits to Germany, and my family hosted visitors (usually from germany) and many more occasions. I know two things: first, these visits were amongst the most enjoyable and educational things I did as a youngster. And secondly, if anyone had started talking ‘bible’ tome, I would have hitch-hiked home the next day.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep your bible and your religion to yourself, and try to learn from the experience of hosting your visitor

<Edit> To all readers: Jessica was kind enough to email me to explain that this *IS* a church group exchange, so my comments are less relevant than I thought. Good luck Jessica – I’m sure you’ll all have a ball!
Seeing as how you don’t know this person and have no knowledge of what their religious persuasion might be or even what their denomination doctrines might be.
Maybe a verse completely non-denominational, benign, Old Testament and helpful to all, whether they were Jewish, Catholic or Protestant. … particularly if one is involved in an educational pursuit.
Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

If you don’t already know the student is a Christian, maybe it would be good to start with a discussion piece about why someone should believe in Christianity or the Bible, such as the following article:
